STANS, the documentary detailing the inner workings of superfandom produced by none other than Eminem, will debut in theaters across the U.S. on Aug. 7. The film will be show in just over 135 AMC theaters for one weekend only – through Aug. 10. The film will be released internationally on the same date by Trafalgar Releasing, and will be available to stream internationally on Paramount+ later this year.

As shown in the teaser trailer for the STANS, directed by Steven Leckart, Eminem himself faces his own superfans, who hears some of the most common questions asked to him – including some thoughts about his 2000 song, “Stan.” Eminem is confronted with questions like, “Why did you write the song ‘Stan’? Is ‘Stan’ based on a real fan?”and another voice asks, “Why do you share so much about yourself in your music?” when towards the end, we finally see Eminem seated in front of the camera, who asks: “What’s your first question?”

The official documentary synopsis reads: “Moving, funny, and revealing, the film offers a raw and riveting exploration of Eminem’s legendary career through the eyes of his most devoted fans. Released in 2000, Eminem’s song “Stan” — about an obsessive, unstable fan — remains iconic. So iconic that the term stan was officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017. More than just an exploration of fandom, the film examines the complicated relationship between one of the world’s most private artists and his massive public persona. Through stylized recreations, rare archival footage, and intimate original interviews, it offers a raw, loud and revealing journey across Eminem’s career — and the passionate audience that has grown with him,” the description states.”
