Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after suffering a neck injury that requires surgery.
Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Wednesday that Reed will be placed on injured reserve, and said the injury is not expected to end the 26-year-old receiver’s career. Reed was injured Sept. 20 during Green Bay’s overtime victory over the New York Jets. He was hit in the helmet while attempting to make a catch and was taken from the field on a spine board before being transported to a New Jersey hospital for evaluation. Reed subsequently missed the Packers’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
The injury ends Reed’s fourth NFL season after he recorded four catches for 24 yards in two starts. The 2023 second-round pick from Michigan State has 142 receptions for 1,881 yards and 15 touchdowns in 42 career games, including 28 starts. He signed a three-year, $50.25 million contract extension with Green Bay in April that included $20 million guaranteed.
Reed had emerged as an important part of the Packers’ receiving group during his first two seasons, posting 64 catches for 793 yards and eight touchdowns as a rookie before recording 55 receptions for 857 yards and six touchdowns in 2024. He was limited to seven games in 2025 because of injuries before returning for the playoffs.
