Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Calijah Kancey has been diagnosed with a torn pectoral muscle that will require him to miss the rest of the season. Kancey suffered the injury when facing Texans offensive tackle Tytus Howard during the Bucs’ 20-19 victory over the Houston Texans during Monday Night Football. Kancey left the game in the second quarter and did not return.

Kancey underwent MRI testing Tuesday, which confirmed the diagnosis. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN (per sources): “Tests confirmed Bucs DT Calijah Kancey tore his pec, and he now is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery Friday”

Kancey was drafted out of Pittsburgh in 2023, and has recorded 11.5 sacks in his first two NFL seasons. He missed a combined eight games the last two seasons due to injury.
